First-Born Praying Mantis?

(Well at least it's the first one we saw).
The Praying Mantis eggs we bought at Armstrong Garden Center seem to have started hatching today! Posted by Picasa

You can see the egg-case under the tree on the right side.

I didn't know you could buy those. Did you buy them for the fun of watching Praying Manti? Or to catch something in particular?

Wow. I didn't know they came in egg case groups. For some reason I guess I imagined they hatched from individual eggs. That's so interesting. How many are supposed to hatch from one egg case?

I bought them at Armstrong Garden Center, where they are sold as a garden pest deterrent, but I just wanted to see them running around the yard. I think hundreds should hatch, but I've only seen the one to date.
